Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like we’ve had about 200 bank holidays recently?

Personally, I’m getting really quite bored of them. Especially this one currently – what’s the point of having another ‘day off’, let alone two in a row? I can’t see a good reason for it. Yes it’s the Queen’s Jubilee, but does it really warrant having a weekend followed by another two days off?

I know I’m not alone in my feelings towards bank holidays, given the views of many on Twitter recently; but it does certainly seem to be more swayed towards those who are self employed that are getting bored of them. Mainly due to the fact that if we don’t work, we don’t get paid, whereas employed folk can enjoy these bank holidays without fear of not getting paid at the end of the month.

This year so far we seem to have had more bank holidays than ever. I don’t know whether that’s actually true or if that’s just how it feels to me. But I, for one, will continue working onwards as normal and ignore them completely, as they are irrelevant to me. (And a whole load of other people too).

I hate to think how much all these days off are costing Britain’s economy – potentially millions upon millions of pounds? That combined with a less than chirpy economy to start with, it’s not a good combination, I don’t think.

I know this post will have annoyed many of you, and I’m not surprised by that. It’s just my little bank holiday rant, because I can. So there. 🙂
