Google Is Changing The Game

Could the days of SEO experts be numbered?

Well, maybe not quite so melodramatically, but Google have yesterday announced that they’re changing the game as far as website ranking goes. No longer will it be focussed on keyword-rich metadata, descriptions and the like, but will more focus on the indexing of original fresh content.

What I’m deducing from this is essentially it means that generally speaking, blogging is going to be even more important than ever in the future! Google will be judging the quality of various sites, and the better your site, the better it will perform in their rankings. ‘Better’ is a very subjective phrase, but I guess they simply mean that if your site has a good regular stream of good, relevant copy, overall your site will be looked on favourably.

Spokesmen Matt Cutts and Amit Singhal from Google recently said this:

“This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on.”

So, if your site is static and unchanging, you could fall foul of their new algorithms and be virtually invisible; so my advice is get your site up to date and get creating original fresh content!
