QR Codes In Business

Are you using QR codes in your business? I am, and it seems to be an ever-increasing trend. I’d not even heard of them until I heard a talk by Luke Carthy from Mint Marketing. Ever since I’ve started using them in several places, on this site on the contact page, on my business cards, and I’m also getting a foam board printed up so I can attach it to my roller banner.

They are a great way for people to easily scan them and add your details to their smartphones without having to do it manually. That’s purely the reason why I’m using them. It’s not to be deliberately fancy (well ok, partly), but it’s just a nice easy solution.

If you’ve never heard of QR codes, then take a look at the below picture which gives some background to what they are and where they came from. Image courtesy of Mashable.

  1. Why, thank you Richard!

As for QR Codes, I totally agree. Watch this space with the iPad 2 now featuring cameras, 2011 is going to be a very interesting time indeed for QR Codes!

  2. Yep you could well be right, awareness of QR codes, and the actual scanning of them is on the up, certainly with people I know of. Great for special offers etc as well.

  3. Hey Gary, thanks for the comment.

Great to see you’re starting to use them. I’ve started putting them on my business cards – it definitely creates a talking point for the uninitiated, and for those already familiar makes them more likely to add my details to their phones!

    • Great stuff Lindsay! Absolutely it’s a start. I believe in anything that makes it easier to interact with a potential customer, QR codes combined with smartphones are a massive win I reckon ๐Ÿ˜€
